Delbert Roth

Delbert “Del” Dean Roth

July 18, 1939 - May 9, 2022

Delbert (Del) Dean Roth of Denver, Colorado passed away on May 9, 2022, after a brief battle with a brain injury. He was eighty-three.

Blessed with an inventive mind and a mischievous twinkle in his eye, Del was born in Wellman, Iowa on July 18, 1939, to father, Melvin Roth and mother, Hilda Hershberger. He was always eager for new adventure and once old enough, seized an opportunity to travel to Denver to pursue new opportunities in a brand-new place. Working many years as a Brick Mason, Del’s expertise, and attention to detail, is evident in the numerous installations that have left an indelible and beautiful impact on the Denver area.

While in Colorado, Del was set up on a blind date with Miriam Louise Wittrig and on May 22, 1964, they were married in Colorado Springs. Their wonderful 58-year marriage produced two children, three grandchildren and many joyful times with family, friends, book groups, game groups, church activities, and charitable activities reaching from the United States to the Cook Islands, off the coast of New Zealand.

Del was preceded in death by his parents and by his brother Burdette Ellis Roth (Marilyn), and his sister Betty Jean Krabill (Joe). He is survived by his wife Miriam Louise Roth; children Karri Sue Hutton (Rick) and Matthew Dean Roth; grandchildren Emily Rae Hutton, Amy Louise Hutton, and Evan Dean Roth. He is also survived by his brothers Willis James Roth (Darlene) and Curtis Eugene Roth (Rachel).

A memorial service is scheduled for August 27, 2022, at 2 pm at First Mennonite Church in Denver. All are invited to attend and please join us for a time of remembrance and fellowship in the FMC Community Center after the service. The family has asked that in lieu of flowers or gifts, a donation to Mennonite Central Committee (MCC) or to First Mennonite Church’s Joseph’s Storehouse Fund is preferred.
