Sarah Thompson, Executive Director of Christian Peacemaker Teams, will be our guest speaker. Her sermon title is “Building partnerships to transform violence and oppression at this ecological moment.”
Sermon text: (Lectionary gospel) Mark 13:1-8 and Revelation 6:1-8. These are apocalyptic times. Not in the sense of the zombie apocalypse or the “Left Behind” series, rather these are times of great potential change and revelation for our life as the body of Christ.  As the birthpangs increase, may we all find ways to be midwives of justice by deepening our connection with the Divine, one another, ourselves, and the Earth. Musicians are Romaine Anderson and Vicky Mierau. Sonia Graber will lead singing. Emily Martin will lead the choir as they sing for the first time this fall. Jill Gerig is our worship leader.

November 22, 2015

Rob Burdette will be preaching. Gathering music by Vicky Mierau on organ and Tim Moore on trumpet. Darren Knowles is worship leader. Arlen Hershberger will lead singing.

Sermon – For This We Were Born. I wonder how Pilate heard Jesus’ retort, My kingdom is not from this world. That’s pretty safe, huh? What do you hear in these words? Safety as well? Sometimes I’m glad that Christ’s reign is not from this world. However, that’s not to say Christ’s reign is not intended for this world. The Reign of Christ reminds us that the old era of domination, duplicity, violence and death has now been supplanted by the reign of Christ’s truth. God in Christ has acted and Bob Dylan sings, your old road is rapidly fading. Are we ready to let go of the old and embrace the new?
