First Mennonite Church Choir Schedule
January through May, 2010


(Choir will resume at the end of September or beginning of October, 2010)

Rehearsals will take place in the Community Center (Donut & Coffee Hall) unless otherwise noted

REHEARSE AT 9:00 AM, THEN SING DURING WORSHIP SERVICE on the following days:
January 10Prayer from “Alceste” by Gluck

January 17 (MLK Jr) – The Hand of God Shall Hold You by Haugen, with congregation and instruments (not orchestra)

February 7Taste and See by R. Vaughan Williams AND The Lord Bless You and Keep You by John Rutter

February 21Heilig, Heilig, Heilig (in German) by Mendelssohn – Charlie Ferguson, conductor

March 7He, watching over Israel from “Elijah” by Mendelssohn

March 28 (Palm Sunday) – Excerpts from Our Father’s World: Worship songs from around the world. Hopefully with children and percussion and possibly additional instruments

April 4 (Easter Sunday) Pre-Service rehearsal will be in the SANCTUARY – Excerpts from Messiah by Handel, with orchestra

April 18 (Earth Day) - Excerpts from Our Father’s World: Worship songs from around the world.

May 9 (Mother’s Day) – You are My Children that we started to work on last year but didn’t sing. I am inviting Emily Martin to be guest conductor for this.

May 23 (Choir Season Finale) – Resurrect best-loved choir songs from this season, PLUS Let not your heart be troubled (in English) by Brahms, Guest Conductor Arlen Hershberger for this song.

WE MAY ALSO try to have a special CONCERT outside the context of the worship service sometime late in May. More on possibility this later. If you don’t hear about it later, it’s not happening.
