About us:
Vernon K. Rempel, MDiv., DMin, Senior Pastor

Pastor Vern Rempel has served in congregational ministry since 1986. He graduated from Associate Mennonite Biblical Seminary in Elkhart, IN with a M.Div. degree and more recently from Iliff School of Theology with a D.Min. in preaching. Vern has taught at two Mennonite colleges, written numerous articles, and is serving as adjunct faculty at Iliff and in Mennonite denominational roles. Vern's doctoral thesis "Beautiful language for preaching: A poetics of homiletics" is available through theological databases, or contact him, if interested. Vern is married to Marilyn Rempel. They have two young adult children, Jess and Diana, and live in Littleton, CO.


Annie Lengacher Browning, MDiv, MSW, Executive Pastor

Annie Lengacher Browning joined the FMC staff in 2007. She graduated from Iliff School of Theology in Denver, CO with a MDiv degree and from the University of Denver with a Master of Social Work Degree. She has worked as a mental health therapist and in various teaching roles in the past and has led spirituality and healing retreats and workshops. Annie lives in Northeast Denver with her husband Morgan Browning and son.


Tory Doerksen,  Pastor for Child and Youth Faith Formation
Tory Doerksen joined the FMC staff in June, 2010.  He started his seminary training through Associated Mennonite Biblical Seminary – Great Plains and finished through George Fox Evangelical Seminary, Portland.  While pursuing his M. Div. Tory was a part-time youth and music minister as well as a Service Adventure Leader with his wife Crystal.  He lives in Denver with his wife and young son, Rian.  

Darren Knowles, Ministry Intern
Darren joined the FMC staff in July, 2010. He is a student at Iliff School of Theology and is doing his Advanced Field Ed with us this next year.


Karen Martin, Congregational Administrator
Karen Martin has served as Congregational Administrator since 1996. She has attended First Mennonite Church most of her life and is part of a three-generation family in the church. She has two young adult children.  Karen is a member of the Mile High Chapter of the National Association of Church Business Administrators.


Linda Welty, Administrative Assistant
Linda joined the FMC staff in December 2009. Linda has experience in a variety of non-profit office settings, including 10 years as manager of an independent living retirement community.  Linda and her husband, Merritt, have two sons, one in Denver, and the other son lives in Boise, Idaho, with his wife and daughter.


Ross and Allison Boehm Lehman, Caretakers
Ross and Allison joined the staff in May, 2010.
